Twitter’s Mute Feature to Stop Notification from Annoying Profiles

This time the Twitter is coming up with new mute feature in tweets. Now you can mute a profile, to stop getting notification of their tweets and retweets.

By using this feature you can get rid from a user’s content on Android, iOS and Twitter web. The key features you should know about this Mute button is:

1- Muting and blocking a person is absolutely different.

2- The Muted person will be able to favorite, reply and retweet your Tweets. They can also send you the direct messages.

3- You can still see the old tweets (before the time you muted them) of the person.

4- The muted user will never know that you have muted him/her.

5- You will still receive the notification, if that user @mention you in the tweet.

6- The best part about this feature is that you can unmute a person anytime.

How to Mute a Twitter User on the Web?

  • Muting from a Tweet:

  1. Click on the more bottom; at the right bottom of a tweet.
  2. Click Mute @UserName.
  • Muting from a profile:

  1. Visit to the profile of the person you want to mute
  2. Click on the gear  Icon on his/her profile page.
  3. Click Mute @UserName

A pop-up will become visible on the top of web; you can undo the process here if you made it by mistake.

How to Mute a User on Twitter for iOS?

  • Muting from a Tweet:
  1. Tap the tweet of the user which you wish to mute.
  2. Tap on ••• Icon; at the right bottom of a tweet.
  3. Tap Mute @UserName. A verification pop-up will come on screen; tap Yes, I’m sure to confirm.
  • Muting from a profile:
  1. Visit to the profile of the person you want to mute
  2. Tap the gear  Icon on his/her profile page.
  3. Tap Mute @UserName and Yes, I’m sure to confirm.

How to Mute a User on Twitter for Android?

  • Muting from a Tweet:
  1. Tap the tweet of the user which you wish to mute.
  2. Tap on  Icon; at the right bottom of a tweet.
  3. Tap Mute @UserName & Yes, I’m sure to confirm.
  • Muting from a profile:
  1. Visit to the profile of the person you wish to mute
  2. Tap the gear  Icon on his/her profile page.
  3. Tap Mute @UserName and Yes, I’m sure to confirm.

When you click/tap the mute button, a red mute icon  will start appearing near the gear icon of the of that muted user.

To unmute the user just go to the profile of that user and click on Red Mute Icon.

Activate Twitter Text Messaging >  Go to Your Favorite’s Profile > Click on Gear Icon > Click “Turn on Mobile Notification”
